Maundy Thursday Service

  • St. Bartholomew's Episcopal Church 3747 34th St South St. Petersburg United States (map)

Join us for our Maundy Thursday service as we commemorate the institution of the Lord’s Supper and reflect on Jesus’ commandment to love one another. This meaningful service includes foot washing and the stripping of the altar, accompanied by our choir.

After the sermon, attendees are invited to participate in foot washing, a practice begun by Jesus to demonstrate humility and service. The altar guild will provide basins and fresh water, and the service continues with the stripping of the altar—flowers, candles, vestments, and crosses are removed in silence, while the choir sings. The service concludes in darkness, representing the moment when Jesus is arrested and his disciples flee.

This is a reflective and intimate service, providing a powerful opportunity to enter into the events of Holy Week.
