🔒 Using Realm as a Church Directory: What You Need to Know
If you want to use Realm to see and connect with your church family, here’s what to know:
You control what others can see about you. Your info is safe and private.
By default, only people in your groups, your group leaders, and church staff can see your contact info.
You can share more with the whole church if you want, or keep it private.
Parents decide if children’s names appear. Children under 13 cannot use Realm.
You can change your privacy settings anytime to control who sees your name, phone, address, birthday, and more.
🚨 Important: Make Sure You Appear in the Church Directory!
If you want your name and contact info to show up in the church directory, you must change your privacy settings to “Everyone.”
⚠️ By default, Realm keeps your information private. Others cannot see you unless you update this!
Why is this important?
If you don’t choose “Everyone,” your name will not appear in the directory.
You still control exactly what details to share (phone, address, birthday, etc.).
This helps your church family stay connected!
📋 How to Adjust Your Privacy Settings in Realm
🔐 Step-by-Step Instructions (Computer or Phone):
Log in to Realm:
On a computer, go to onrealm.org and log in with your email and password. If you’ve never logged in before or have forgotten your password, click “Forgot your password?” A link will be sent to your email to reset your password.
After resetting it, return to the login page and enter your email and new password.On a smartphone, open the Realm Connect app and log in.
Go to your Profile:
On a computer: Click your name in the top right corner, then select "My Profile."
On the app: Tap the ⋯ More menu icon in the bottom right corner, then tap your initials or profile photo at the top left.
Find Privacy Settings:
On a computer: Look for “Privacy Settings” on the right side of your profile page.
On the app: Tap My Profile, then go to each category (like email, phone number, address, etc.).
Tap the ✏️ pencil icon next to each item to edit its visibility settings.
Choose who can see your information:
Everyone (the whole church) — 👈 Select this if you want your information to appear in the directory!
Only My Groups, Group Leaders, and Staff (this is the default setting)
Only Group Leaders and Staff
Church Staff Only (hidden from all other members)
You can also choose privacy settings for specific details like:
Phone number
Email address
Birthday
Mailing address
✅ Be sure to tap or click “Save” when you're finished.
