Lent Meditation: Day 37 - March 26, 2026

📖 Scripture Verse

Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. And all of us, with unveiled faces, seeing the glory of the Lord as though reflected in a mirror, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another; for this comes from the Lord, the Spirit. — 2 Corinthians 3:17-18

🕯️Meditation

The removing of veils has been the theme of this portion of Paul’s second letter to the Corinthians. What once has been difficult for us to see becomes clear. The work of self-examination in Lent has led us to a clearer vision of who we are. This is a gift of the Spirit. We are given freedom, not shame. As our vision clears, we can look at the Lord more clearly. In the mystical process of spiritual growth and transformation that is the Christian life, we become more and more like the Lord whom we contemplate. We see Jesus and we see what it means for us to be fully human, and as we grow in holiness and humanity, we grow to be more like Jesus. This is the joy of Christian discipleship. As we know ourselves more, as we follow Him more, we burst into life more and more, and the face of Christ looks back at us from all those whom we encounter, and it looks back at us from the mirror as we see Christ take root in the center of our very being.

🙏 Prayer

Holy Spirit, give me the clear vision to see Christ. Give me the freedom and grace that the life of Christ may flourish in my life, and may changed day by day into Christ’s likeness. Amen.
